A 90-day pilot at your plant

Happy Bugs Data is a process-control log for industrial wastewater. Operators enter the daily bench results, and every result lands on a control chart the day it's entered. It's built for the ORCs and engineers who owns the wastewater system at a chemical or food plant, usually on top of another job.

Twelve days that looked fine on the surface

Production starts a campaign that sends more nitrogen to the wastewater plant. Over the next twelve days, effluent alkalinity slides a little each morning, from 150 toward 60 mg/L. Basin pH eases down with it. Ammonia, the number on the permit, still looks perfect. Each day's in process results look fine on their own, so the operators initial it and move on. The engineer who owns wastewater is pulled into a production problem, and the spreadsheet doesn't get updated for several days.

Then one morning, ammonia comes back over the daily limit. The plant manager is at the basin by noon. Bicarbonate goes on rush order and production is asked to cut the campaign. When someone looks at the bench sheets, the slide was there the whole time.

What changes

  • Every result is on a chart the day it's entered. Twelve days of alkalinity read as one line heading down, not twelve separate sheets of paper.
  • Operators enter results at the bench, on any device. No Friday afternoons spent typing up the week.
  • Mass load calculates for you from concentration and totalizer flow.
  • The ORC log sits next to the data, and every correction keeps the original value and the reason it changed.
  • Dashboards are saved per person, so the operator's view and the engineer's view can differ.

Next on our build list: your own permit limits on the charts, and an alert before you reach one. What the pilot plant flags gets weighed first in how those work.

How we set it up with you

  • Kickoff, about an hour. We walk through your sample points, assess how daily data is handled today, and agree on what day 90 has to show.
  • We do the setup. We build your systems, unit operations, and sample locations from the lab sheets you already use.
  • Weeks 1 to 4. First entries, with a 30-minute check-in every week.
  • Weeks 5 to 12. Your routine, with check-ins every other week.
  • Day 90. The decision date set at kickoff.

What it takes on your side

  • At least one operator or engineer who enters daily data and tells us plainly what isn't working.
  • One person who could approve a purchase, on the kickoff call and the day-90 call.
  • Your sample-point list, the tests you run at each, and current lab sheets.
  • About an hour a week for the first month, less after that.

For your IT team

  • Nothing to install. It runs in a web browser, on a computer or mobile device at the bench or a desktop in the office.
  • Your plant is its own tenant, kept separate at sign-in and in the database rules.
  • Access by role. Admin and user accounts available.
  • Hosted on Google Cloud.

Your data

Your results belong to you. We don't name your facility publicly unless you say so in writing. If you stop at day 90, we send you your lab results and ORC log entries as a spreadsheet within 14 days.

What day 90 shows

We agree the specifics at kickoff. Typically:

  • Operators enter daily results in Happy Bugs Data instead of your current method.
  • The engineer or ORC is able to review trends easily.
  • You can point to at least one trend you would have missed on paper.

The terms

One plant, 90 days, $2,500. If you continue, the fee credits in full toward your first year, and we set that price together before day 90. Your history, sample points, and dashboards carry straight over. If you don't continue, it ends at day 90 and nothing more is owed.

Who this fits

  • You run on-site wastewater treatment at a chemical or food plant, under a direct-discharge NPDES permit or a pretreatment permit with your POTW.
  • Your daily process-control results live on paper, or in a spreadsheet nobody trends.
